Nairobi - Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Dr. Musalia Mudavadi has held discussions with a delegation of the Türkiye-Kenya Parliamentary Friendship Group on ways of strengthening the longstanding relations between Kenya and Türkiye.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, aviation, tourism and regional peace and security.
“Kenya is keen to attract more investment from the Turkish business community, noting that Türkiye has a vibrant private sector with significant capacity to contribute to Kenya’s economic transformation,” said Mudavadi.
He encouraged Turkish investors to explore opportunities available in Kenya across various sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, agriculture and other areas aligned with the country’s development priorities.
PCS also highlighted the potential for stronger cooperation in the aviation sector, including the possibility of enhanced collaboration between Turkish Airlines and Kenya Airways.
He said such partnerships could create stronger synergies between the two national carriers, improve connectivity between Kenya, Türkiye and other destinations, and in turn facilitate increased movement of people, goods, tourists and investors.
Mudavadi noted that improved air connectivity would play an important role in catalysing trade and investment by making it easier for businesses and travellers to access markets in Kenya, Türkiye and the wider African and Middle Eastern regions.
The discussions also underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary and people-to-people relations between the two countries. Mudavadi said sustained engagement between the two legislatures and other institutions provides an important platform for sharing experiences, building mutual understanding and advancing areas of common interest.
On regional and international peace and security, Mudavadi observed that Kenya and Türkiye have an important role to play in promoting peace and stability, particularly in regions affected by conflict, instability and terrorism.
He said the two countries should continue working together in efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism while supporting initiatives aimed at securing lasting peace and stability in the region.
Mudavadi emphasised that Kenya values its longstanding friendship with Türkiye and remains committed to expanding the partnership beyond traditional diplomatic relations into stronger economic, commercial, security and people-to-people cooperation.
He said deeper engagement between the two countries presents an opportunity to create mutually beneficial partnerships, attract investment, strengthen connectivity and contribute to shared prosperity.
The Türkiye-Kenya Parliamentary Friendship Group has continued to provide an important platform for strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and advancing closer relations between Kenya and Türkiye.
